KADIRKHIL MOSQUE-RELIGIOUS
KADIRKHIL CENTRAL MOSQUE IS A VILLAGE MOSQUE IN CHANDPUR, CUMILLAH. THERE WAS AN ANCIENT MOSQUE WHICH IS RUINED AT PRESENT DAY. VILLAGERS FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A PERMANENT MOSQUE AT THE SAME PLACE AND THEY HAVE TOOK THE INITIATIVE BY COLLECTING FUND FROM THE VILLAGERS AND THEIR RELATIVES FROM ABROAD. THE MOSQUE LOCATION IS AT THE CORNER OF A LARGE POND TO BE DEVELOPED. THE IDEA OF THIS MOSQUE PROJECT WAS MAKING A SOCIAL SPACE WHERE PEOPLE NOT ONLY PRAY BUT ALSO IT WILL BE THE CENTER OF SOCIAL GATHERING, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE AND A PLACE FOR CELEBRATION WHEN NEEDED. THAT’S WHY WE HAVE DESIGNED TO LEVEL WHERE LEVEL ONE IS DEDICATED FOR PRAYER AND HALF OF THE LEVEL TWO IS DEDICATED FOR SOCIAL SPACE. TWO LEVELS ARE CONNECTED BY AN OPEN STAIR AT EAST SIDE/POND SIDE. THE WHOLE MOSQUE VOLUME IS A RECTANGULAR CUBE IN SHAPE WHICH WAS INSPIRED BY HOLY KABA. THE ENTIRE FLOOR IS A SINGLE SPACE WITHOUT ANY COLUMN IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. THAT’S WHY THE SLAB WAS CONSTRUCTED AS A WAFFLE SLAB TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE OF THE MOSQUE IS MOSTLY OPEN FOR PASSING AIR AND ENTERING ENOUGH DAYLIGHT INTO THE MAIN MOSQUE SPACE. THE EAST HAVE GRAND STAIR DOWN TO THE POND AND OTHER SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS AND WEST HAS BEEN TREATED AS THE FACE OF THE MOSQUE BY GIVING IMAM’S SPACE IN DIFFERENT SHAPE. THIS BUILDING IS A REPRESENTATION OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE WITH TRADINDIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP AND LOCAL MATERIAL. THE SPACE WHICH HAS COME BY DESIGN HAVE A SPIRITUAL AMBIENCE BY CREATING DIRECT AND DIFFUSE DAY LIGHT AT DIFFERENT TIME OF THE DAY.
